Fire Corrections Officer Re-Hired

Local News

Zanesville Police Chief Eric Lambes says a fired correction officer will be back on the job tonight.

That officer is his son, Ben Lambes.

He was fired after an incident on October 2nd of last year that included a car accident, fleeing from the scene and a gun that was left behind in the car.

In October of last year the younger Lambes was charged with one count of improperly handling a weapon in a motor vehicle and received a suspended sentence, one year probation and a $500 fine.

Zanesville Police conducted an internal investigation and determined that Ben Lambes should be terminated.

Chief Lambes says the re-hiring is the result of an agreement between the City, the Police Union and Safety Director Bob Brandford.

Brandford was not available for comment on the issue.
