Benefits For Wartime Vets

Local News

Veterans across Muskingum County could be eligible for benefits from the government and they don’t even know it.

The Muskingum County Veterans Affairs Office is doing something about it. They’re holding a seminar on June 30th to hopefully help a few of their own out by discussing ‘Aid and Attendance’ benefits for wartime vets. “We’re going to explain in the seminar how to apply for this benefit and just exactly what all this benefit will afford them. It can be an assisted living facility, it can be a nursing facility and in some cases they can actually still stay in their home. But aid and attendance in itself really means that you have an individual that needs special care.” Says Don McKee with the Muskingum County Veterans Affairs Office.

Mckee encourages all veterans and their spouses to attend so they can take advantage of the benefits they deserve. “Its always a good time to start applying for these benefits, there are many many people who have been out of the military for 20 or 30 years and didn’t realize that they could file for compensation benefits for disease or injury that happened to them while they were in the military.”

The event takes place at Clay House in Zanesville- Tuesday June 30th starting at 6pm with a cookout. he informational meeting on veterans benefits will begin shortly after at 6:30.
