The Avondale Youth Center also held a yard sale to raise money for their Avondale Fund.
Deborah Myers organized the event and says the sale, which ran yesterday and today, raised more than $1,000.
“I was surprised and happy. I’ve been picking up stuff since June,” said Myers. “From businesses and donations. it’s going real well. We’ve had a lot of people respond and come out.”
Myers says the money raised will be used to take the children to a water park and fund other needed supplies.
“If they need something for school, school clothes, stuff like that,” she said.
The Avondale Youth center is a residential facility operated by Muskingum County Children Services.
The group provides a safe living situation for youth who have been removed from their homes for a variety of reasons.
